Melvina S DeMoss, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 23. Born in Baltimore, MD, on July 11, 1924, she formerly resided in Timonium and Pikesville, and most recently in Annapolis,MD.



Melvina was a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore and attended Notre Dame College of Maryland. After meeting and marrying her husband Francis, she raised four children at their home in Pikesville. Melvina was very active in the Alumnae Association of IND holding several positions on their board. She worked tirelessly supporting other Catholic charities, including the School Sisters of Notre Dame at Villa Assumpta in Towson. She was recognized as the Catholic Volunteer of the Baltimore Diocese. She was devoted to the School Sisters of Notre Dame and became a lay Associate of the order.



Daughter of the late John and Marietta (Tarr) Smith, and wife of the late Francis J. DeMoss , she was also predeceased by two sons, Patrick J. DeMoss and Mark E. DeMoss, and her brother, John Smith. She is survived by two children: Thomas B. DeMoss (Lois) of Annapolis, and Tere A. DeMoss of The Villages, Florida. She was also loved by four grandchildren, Michelle Shoenberger, Matthew Shoenberger, Brian DeMoss, and Joanne Snow, as well as two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Nicholas Snow.



The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church 620 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401 on Tuesday at 9 AM. Interment in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
